Program Objectives

Dietary recommendations based on nutrition and dietary practices, dietary recommendations for diseases and diets; ensuring compliance with institutions and organizations, having professional and ethical values. This department is awarded the title of 'Dietician' for graduates.





Establishment

The establishment of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics was decided by a vote of unity at the meeting of the Istanbul Kültür University Senate on March 9, 2017 and approved at the meeting of the Higher Education Council on April 5, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics was established within the Faculty of Health Sciences.





Qualification Awarded

Students with at least 240 ECTS who have successfully completed all the courses in the four-year education plan are awarded a bachelor's degree in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics.





Language of Instruction

The teaching language of our department is Turkish.

Admission and Registration Requirements

50 (Fifty) students are taken by the Center Placement Exam conducted by ÖSYM in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics. Registrations of the students placed in the Department of Dietetics and Department of Dietetics are carried out by the Student Affairs Office on the calendar frame determined by ÖSYM.

Double Major–Minor Programs

The students of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics of the Istanbul Kültür University have the opportunity to do minor and major studies with all the departments of our university.
Undergraduate students may apply to the Double Major Program (DMP) at the earliest third, at the beginning of the fifth semester at the earliest, and at a GPA of at least 3.00. The application requirements are determined by departments / programs. Applications to participate in the DMP are made at the same time in the two relevant divisions / programs. Admission to the DMP is based on the proposal of the relevant departments and the decision of the relevant board of directors or boards. The DMP is conducted under the supervision of an advisor from both departments / programs.  





Internship

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics is undertaking compulsory internships in order to familiarize students with the areas they are interested in and the areas they wish to study in the future, taking into account the recommendations of the internship coordinator at institutions in the internship pool, which our department has created.
 







Graduation Requirements

To achieve at least a 2.00 weighted grade average over 4.00 to successfully complete the entire 216 national credits (240 ECTS credits) in the program.

 Graduates from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics are able to work in many different sectors and sectors related to different specializations. Some of these areas are;

Access to Further Studies

The Nutrition and Dietetics Undergraduate program has a vertical transfer capacity from associate degree programs.

Departmental Facilities

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics has three (3) assistant proffesor and two (2) research assistants working full-time in their field. In addition, lectures are given by faculty members who work in various universities and institutions in order to increase the content of the courses offered.     There are five (5) student laboratories fully equipped, two (2) seminar-meeting rooms, six (6) office and student laboratory practices.
