Program Objectives

The aim of the Department of International Trade and Finance, with the objectives of the economic policy of our country in the international arena of public and private sector organizations to improve the competitiveness of qualified experts to educate cadres.

The process of globalization, economic conditions, competition intensified and aggravated integrations environment has gained great importance in international financial issues. Turkish companies in our country and in this competitive environment, take place in the world economy, up to be a strong economy, managed by experts who are experienced in international trade and finance depends on the existence of companies. And the ability to increase the competitiveness of Turkey's entry into new foreign markets, international trade and finance with information, education, training of at least two foreign language skills depends on the quality of the workforce. The need to ensure the realization of the objectives set out in the preparation of training programs, as well as the lives of students will graduate to be successful in the business enterprise is considered in a holistic and practical information.

Program Goal

The goal of the program is to ensure that students understand the complexities of international business and provide them with the necessary skills to succeed in global markets. The main objectives of the program can be listed as follows.

•To provide students with an understanding of the skills required to trade in global markets by providing them with information about the basic concepts, processes and regulations of international trade.

•To help students develop strategies to identify and manage financial risks encountered in international trade by providing them with information about financial analysis techniques and the basic principles of international finance.

•It is aimed for students to develop their skills in doing business with different cultures and competing in international markets. This enables students to overcome cultural and language barriers to be successful in global markets.

• To provide students with effective communication skills and leadership abilities, which are critical for their success in the business world and include teamwork, customer relations and effective communication with international business partners

•To give students the opportunity to follow technological developments and understand how to use them in the field of international trade and finance. In this regard, students are supported with subjects such as data analysis, artificial intelligence and digital commerce.

In line with these goals, various courses, technical trips, and internship opportunities are offered to ensure our students gain a competitive advantage in global markets. In this way, our students are supported in having a successful career in international trade and finance





Establishment

The Department of International Trade was founded by Prof. Dr. Durmuş Dündar in 2012 at the Ataköy Campus within the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and started education at the beginning of the 2012-2013 Academic Year. Our department had its first undergraduate program graduates in the 2015-2016 Academic Year.







Qualification Awarded

Students who have successfully completed the courses in the education plan and a total of 240 AKTS and have at least 2.0 weighted grade point average out of 4.0 are entitled to receive a bachelor's degree in International Trade and Finance





Language of Instruction

The language of instruction is English.

English, German, French, Russian, Chinese, and Spanish to eighth in the foreign language classes in a given period.

 Full-time





Admission and Registration Requirements

International Trade and Finance Program admits a pre-set number of students every year based on the results of the Central Placement Examination administered by OSYM.

In addition, foreign students are also admitted to the two year programs and the undergraduate programs of Istanbul Kültür University as indicated in the guidelines of the application and admission for foreign students. Registrations of the students that are placed in the International Trade and Finance Department are carried out by Istanbul Kültür University Student Affairs Office according to the calendar set by OSYM.

Double Major–Minor Programs

Continuing students who successfully graduate studies in the Department of International Trade and Finance, at the same time one of the other departments of the university in the department contracted a second degree / undergraduate can receive training. Double Major Program successfully completed two bachelor / associate degree students who have earned two bachelor / associate degree. A Double major degree is aviable with all the  other departments at the university
Education and training throughout the year, and the university from 2013-2014  Double Major Program is being implemented.
Our students throughout their education, which is close to the main parts of the terms of the issue to another graduate / undergraduate education within the framework of a specific part of the program participate. Upon successful completion of the program students major in minor program with a bachelor's / associate's degree with a minor degree / undergraduate certificate is issued.

Internship

There is no compulsory internship in our department, but voluntary internship applications are supported by the department chair.

International Cooperations

ERASMUS is a European Union based program established to promote collaboration among the higher education institutions of European countries. It provides grants for joint projects and short term student and academic staff exchange programmes.  Students have the opportunity to study at a European Union institution and receive financial support during the academic exchange period (one or two terms/ 3 to 12 months).

Occupational Profiles Of Graduates

Our graduates work as academic staff in universities, as international trade experts in the Undersecretariats of Treasury and Foreign Trade, in private companies, multinational companies, banks and financial institutions





Access to Further Studies

Students who successfully complete this program can apply for a second cycle degree (master's) or directly into an integrated third cycle (doctoral) programme.





Departmental Facilities

The Department of International Trade and Finance is located in Küçükçekmece Campus. The faculty consists of 1 Professor, 2 Associate Professor, 2 Assistant Professors, 2 Research Assistant Doctor, 2 Research Assistants.  Research interests of the members of the department cover a wide range in the field of International Trade and Finance. The department has a Computer Laboratory which is used for both education and research purposes.
