The primary objective of this course is to introduce students to the history of modern Turkey from the 19th century to the contemporary period. In this regard, it aims to investigate the political, social, and economic dimensions in a historical context. Taking the Ottoman legacy on Turkish politics as a starting point and examining different periods up to the present-day politics, it eventually provides a comprehensive perspective to assess Turkey’s political development.
