The main aim of the course is to discuss the atmosphere preparing the 20th century architecture all around the world, then to focus on the general framework of the history of 20th century architecture. The course is designed as two parts. While first part mainly focuses on the 20th century architecture practices in Europe and America, the second part focuses on the practices in Turkey. It is not aimed to cover all the details in the architectural history. Instead it is aimed to draw the general frame of architectural history in order to teach the students where and how to find the information and to encourage them to be able to evaluate historical narrative and information critically.
