Course Goals

             The general objective of this course is to combine foreign language skills for academic purposes with field related articles and lectures to provide students with a better competence in academic English for their field of study. Moreover, the nature of this course facilitates academics skills in foreign language in order to serve as a basis for practice in students’ field of study. That is the reason behind the EAP and ESP contents were designed in unison.

 

              At the end of the course, students will be able to;

 use pre-reading strategies (i.e. skimming, scanning, previewing)

identify points of reference so as to fully grasp a text.

deal with unknown words by guessing their meaning.

identify figurative speech in order to fully comprehend a text.

make inferences from a text.

distinguish between facts and opinions in order to decide the writers point of view.

identify the writer’s technique including purpose, audience, point of view, tone, and register.

deduce the underlying meaning in sentences or parts of a text

identifying key ideas in a text

recognize the relationship between ideas in a text

Evaluate, synthesize and use information from (multiple) texts

Use correct, appropriate language structures, vocabulary & discourse markers

Identify main idea(s) in spoken discourse

Initiate and maintain discussions

Analyze technical materials about their subject matter and work on technical vocabulary.

Program Outcomes
PO-1Within the architectural discipline,has local,regional, national and international knowledge regarding different space planning issues related to interior architectural design and planning.
PO-2Owns to set up a substructure for design proposals for people and community oriented , cultural sensitible and environmental genesis in the related field.
PO-3Improves skill in developing design concept and planning. Acquaint with defining and investigating special problems on different space planning and design issues.
