Course Goals

The aim of the course is to make use of the internet and the transformation in journalism to the students. In this course new media tools, it is aimed to explain the techniques of news and newspaper publishing, to explain the features that a news site should carry and to redefine the readers with the changing journalist through the concept of transformed news.

Program Outcomes
PO-1The students will be able to define all kinds of concepts related to communication, new media, art and culture (New media and communication)
PO-2The students will be able to understand the historical developments of communication and new media issues, as cultural, social, and technological change depending on the areas of related changes. They will be able to evaluate the results.

Learning Outcomes
LO-1Students will be able to understand the transformation of journalism with the developmentof Internet-based information and communication technologies.
LO-2Students will learn about the content and formatting features that internet news sites need to carry at a minimum level and they will be able evaluate whether these properties are present in the sites that the students examine.
LO-3Students will be able to make a comparison between traditional journalism and internet journalism based on the similarities and differences in news writing methods.
LO-4Students will learn about political economy of Internet journalism and they will gain knowledge of identification of target audience and how different reporting methods may be used in reaching out these targeted groups..
LO-5Students will examine examples of internet journalism and they gain knowledge on different types of journalism such as citizen journalism, social media journalism, and participatory journalism.
