Course Goals
This course aims to develop students’ translation and interpretation skills by employing necessary text design skills and strategies in order to produce efficient translated texts from English to Turkish.

Learning Outcomes
LO-1gain basic theoretical knowledge about translation studies.
LO-2gain necessary text design skills by analyzing language from the perspective of translation and comparing and contrasting textual norms and constraints in source and target language in terms of syntactic features, lexical meanings and cultural context.
LO-3demonstrate efficient skills in the use of dictionaries and other sources of knowledge.
LO-4recognize and deal with linguistic and cultural constraints by selecting and employing problem-solving strategies in translation.
LO-5apply the obtained knowledge in reformulating texts in the target language.
LO-6analyze, discuss and translate a range of informative, expressive, academic and technical/vocational texts from English to Turkish
