Course Goals
With this course it is aimed to present the principal historical, archaeological and architectural constituents of the cultural heritage in Istanbul, to evaluate their current state, and to discuss their conservation problems. In this context, the earliest remains in the city and the historic and cultural layers of the city beginning from the Classical era to the Byzantine and Ottoman times are represented. As the constituents of cultural heritage in Istanbul, historic sites, monuments and archaeological remains survived from different periods are reconsidered and their conservation problems are evaluated.

-Research on the selected examples of cultural heritage in Istanbul by students (individually or in groups) and presentations of the researches by the students on site.
