Course Goals
The aim of the course is to examine personal protective equipment and occupational hygiene at postgraduate level. In this context, issues related to protection methods from hazards and risks in industry and workplaces and protection of workers' health, rules and principles to be considered in the use of personal protective equipment, the field of industrial hygiene, concepts, terminology and methods of industrial hygiene practice are discussed.

Program Outcomes
PO-1Has extensive and in-depth knowledge to make advanced applications in Occupational Health and Safety issues.
PO-2Is aware of the new and emerging applications of her profession and examines and names them critically when necessary.
PO-3They can comprehend the interdisciplinary interaction that Occupational Health and Safety issues are related to, and interpret the acquired knowledge by integrating it with the knowledge from different disciplines, and create new knowledge.
PO-4Develops methods to solve Occupational Health and Safety problems and applies these innovative methods.
PO-5Conducts research independently to solve Occupational Health and Safety problems, uses information and communication technologies to solve complex situations encountered in this process.
Learning Outcomes
LO-1Students determine and fulfill the requirements needed to provide a safe and healthy work environment.
LO-2Students identify potential workplace safety and health hazards and decide how to mitigate the hazards through administrative controls and personal protective equipment.
LO-3Students conduct basic safety inspections using strategies that they have developed though hazard identification and job hazard analysis.
LO-4Students determine the principles for developing and implementing a successful occupational health and safety program.
LO-5Students identify the moral and economic consequences associated with the classifications and major causes of accidents.
LO-6Students describe basic components of an effective company safety and health program including management commitment, employee involvement, hazard recognition, control, and training.
