COMPUTER-AIDED SHAPE DESIGN

Course CodeSemester Course Name LE/RC/LA Course Type Language of Instruction ECTS
MIMY0128 COMPUTER-AIDED SHAPE DESIGN 3/0/0 DE 7
Course Goals

The aim of the course is to give information about how make forms by using CAD (Computer Aided Design) tools and to encourage the students to research the positive and negative impacts of CAD softwares to architectural design. CAD softwares are not only influence design process, but also changes architectural design itself. The impacts of CAD softwares are seen various contemporary designs of some prominent architects, for example Frank Gehry, Kas Oosterhuis, Lars Spuybroek. In the scope of the course, how complex models form by using modelling techniques such as NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline) is explained. The principles of parametric design and how 3D parametric models transform into physical models are explained. The transformation of physical models into 3D models is explained by several practices
