Course Goals
Learning stress factors and their classification, comprehending stress measurement methods and their selection criteria, understanding stress signalling in plants,  studying plant stress responses with respect to tissue, cell and metabolic levels and understanding selection criteria for studying methods, understanding plant stress escape and avoidance, understanding functions and synthesis of stress proteins (antioxidants), detailed examination of abiotic stresses (flooding and drought stress, salt and osmotic stress, cold stress, high temperature stress, toxic material stress), interpretation of multiple stress factor interactions, understanding and interpretation of effect of global climate change on plants, examination of approaches for increasing plant stress tolerance

Program Outcomes
PO-1To be able to determine the field related problems and analysis them to find the solutions as a specialist by using the knowledge coming from undergraduate level.
PO-2To be able to develop and apply research strategies, which depend on the new technological achievements, for novel studies about molecular cell biology, plant biotechnology and molecular genetics fields on the basis of undergraduate qualifications.
PO-3To be able to discuss field related subjects by using at least one foreign language.
PO-4To be sensitive against public problems and be able to create solutions to these problems by synthesis of knowledge coming from other disciplines with the abilities and knowledge of the related field
PO-5To be able to take independent decision in the frame of specialized knowledge and scientific approach about field and lead/proceed a project by using creativity skills.

LO-1Understanding the differences in plant tissues, cells and metabolism in response to biotic and abiotic stress factors and their role in plant defense mechanism.
LO-2 Understanding the effects of multiple stress factors occurring during global climate change.
LO-3Understanding and predicting possible transgenic approaches to increase plant yield loss due to climate change.
LO-4Ability to use background information on stress measurement, changes in plants and plant stress responses at interpretation of scientific publications.
