Course Goals
 This course aims at providing the student with the basic tools of conducting research and writing
papers in international relations. The course is divided into four sections. The first part of the course examines why do research and presents the basic foundations of research design/plan in international relations. The second part presents quantitative data collection and analysis, while the third part focuses on qualitative data collection and analysis. The last section provides guidance in writing research papers by an assignment for the students.

LO-33. To know how to apply the basic aspects of the research process in order to plan and execute a research project
LO-44. To effectively use the library and its resources in gathering information related to the learners' research project
LO-55. To understand qualitative research and methods used to execute and validate qualitative research
LO-66. To understand the process of sampling, the uses of questionnaires as data-gathering instruments, how a survey is carried out in terms of process and method, the uses of surveys and to be able to capture their own data.
LO-77. To use SPSS to conduct statistical analyses
LO-88. To be able to use SPSS to perform multiple regression analysis, one-way analysis of variance, and multivariate analysis of variance.  OR To be able to use EViews for simple regression and descriptive data analysis
