Istanbul Kultur University Economics Doctorate Program aims to train qualified academicians. In this direction, it is aimed to provide a doctoral education at international standards in the field of theoretical and applied economics to the students admitted to the Program. In the first year, students are offered compulsory courses that will transfer the basic topics of economics at the doctoral level and various elective courses covering current economics issues. At the end of the first year, it is aimed that the students, who will form a good background with the courses they take, will conduct independent and ethical research in the field of Economics, analyze scientific studies with a broad perspective and contribute to the national and international economics literature at the end of the program.

Admission and Registration Requirements
In order to apply to the Economics Doctorate Program, candidates must have a bachelor's degree or a master's degree with thesis and have an ALES score of 55, a score of 70 for applicants with a bachelor's degree, and a standard score in ALES with equal weight, provided that it is not less than the standard score. Applicants to a doctoral program with a bachelor's degree must have a minimum of 3 or an equivalent point out of 4 in their undergraduate graduation average and must not have been dismissed from any master's or doctoral program due to disciplinary offenses before.
Apart from these conditions, in the applications for Economics doctorate program, at least 55 points from YDS for English proficiency or from other foreign language exams whose equivalence has been accepted by the Inter-University Board, in accordance with the equivalence tables determined by OSYM and accepted by the Higher Education Institution (YÖK). As a result, a score document equivalent to the YDS score will be requested. ALES condition will not be required in the admission conditions of foreign national candidates and Turkish citizen candidates residing abroad to graduate programs. Istanbul Kultur University Senate decisions will be implemented. In the admission to the proposed doctoral program of those who will apply for a doctorate with a master's degree, in addition to ALES score, undergraduate and / or graduate grade point average and interview result will be evaluated according to the criteria stated below. In addition to the issues related to this evaluation and the standard documents required for the application, candidates are required to submit at least two reference letters.

For those admitted with a master's degree, the doctoral journey extends over 8 semesters, with a flexible maximum completion period of up to 12 semesters, while candidates entering with a bachelor's degree embark on a 10-semester program, extendable to 14. Master's degree candidates must accumulate a minimum of 240 ECTS credits, which include completing 7 courses, seminar attendance, a qualifying exam, thesis proposal, and thesis study. Conversely, bachelor's degree aspirants are required to fulfill a minimum of 300 ECTS credits, entailing completion of 14 courses, seminar participation, a qualifying exam, thesis proposal, and thesis study. The duration for completing coursework is set at 4 semesters for master's degree students and 6 semesters for bachelor's degree candidates. Proficiency exams are scheduled for the 5th semester for master's candidates and the 7th for bachelor's. Advancement to the thesis phase follows successful completion of the proficiency exam, where evaluation by the advisor, department head, and Institute Board of Directors determines eligibility for a doctorate in Economics.
