Program Objectives

Graduates who have completed this program can immediately start their business life and continue their career as an engineer in companies that make production or information technology infrastructure and / or application. Alternatively, they can plan their careers by continuing their graduate studies.





Establishment

TC İstanbul Kültür University was founded in July 15, 1997 in accordance with the article number 4281 of the legislation and began studies to establish the Electronic Engineering Department with the decision of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture taken on 20 January 2004. Electronic Engineering Department with the permission of the YOK in June, 2004 began to accept the first students of the 2004-2005 academic year at Atakoy Campus. The Department  began to accept the DGS students beginning with the date 26, September, 2006 and began the double major program with the Istanbul Kültür University Computer Engineering Department on 1 March, 2007.The name of Electronic Engineering Department was changed to Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department at the beginnig of the 2014-2015 spring semester.
 





Qualification Awarded

The requirement for the Bachelor of Science Degree in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is the successful completion of the formal course work of a minimum of 240 ECTS.





Language of Instruction

 All courses are conducted in English. Students must have a minimum standard TOEFL score of 75 or IELTS score of 6, or should receive a minimum score of 80 from the Inter-University Foreign Language Examination (UDS or KPDS) or its equivalent in a foreign language test accepted by the Inter-University Board. Students who are not able to pass the English proficiency exam are required to complete one year preparatory class in English.

Electrical-Electronics Engineering Program admits a pre-set number of students every year based on the results of the Central Placement Examination and Vertical Transfer Examination administered by OSYM.

In addition, international students are accepted to the Electrical-Electronics Engineering Program and Istanbul Kültür University Associate and Undergraduate Programs in accordance with the application and registration admission directives of international students. Registration of students placed in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is carried out by Istanbul Kültür University Student Affairs Department within the framework of the calendar determined by ÖSYM.

Double Major–Minor Programs

 Successful students in the Electrical-Electronic Engineering Department have the opportunity to graduate in a double major program.Students who meet the necessary conditions and fulfill the necessary requirements can graduate from both departments by acquiring two distinct Bachelor’s Degrees.

In accordance with the guidelines of the Bachelor’s Degree Education-Training and Examination Regulations, successful students who are working towards a major degree in the Electrical-Electronic Engineering Department can also apply for a minor program in another department. Upon successful completion of the  Electrical-Electronic Engineering program, students are awarded with a certificate for this minor program along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical-Electronic Engineering .









Graduation Requirements

The student must successfully complete all courses (equivalent of a total 248 ECTS) that take place in the four-year education plan. In order to complete all the courses in the program successfully, the student must have at least 2.00 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average. In addition, each student must have completed 40 days compulsory internship.





International Cooperations

ERASMUS is a European Union based program established to promote collaboration among the higher education institutions of European countries. It provides grants for joint projects and short term student and academic staff exchange programs.  Students have the opportunity to study at a European Union institution and receive financial support during the academic exchange period (one or two terms/ 3 to 12 months). Students of the Electronic Engineering department may qualify to be Erasmus students in one of the partner universities.

The graduates of the Electrical-Electronics Engineering Department are employed in a variety of sectors. They are also employed in several different fields  such as electric circuit design, communication systems, control systems design and production and industrial electronic field as seen in the table given below with the percentages.

Access to Further Studies

 Upon successful completion of the undergraduate program, candidates having acceptable scores in ALES exam and proficiency in English can go on to graduate programs.





Departmental Facilities

Electrical-Electronic Engineering Department is located in Atakoy Campus. The faculty consists of 2 Professor, 5 Assistant Professors, 6 Research Assistants.  Research interests of the members of the department cover a wide range in the field of Electrical-Electronic Engineering. The department has a Computer Laboratory and Electronic Laboratory, which are used for both education and research purposes.
