Program Objectives

The aim of the department of Radio, Television and Cinema is to provide the basic principles of the theory and aesthetics of film; to provide information on the latest technological developments and allow for their practice; to create an environment where students can experiment with their artistry and develop their artistic point of views. In this context, keeping in mind that art is a universal concept, we work together with international festivals and projects in order to provide a more global experience for students.

The department of Radio, Television and Cinema is conscious of the constant changes, developments and shifts affecting culture and technology and aims to provide this understanding to its students, with the hope that one day the knowledge they have accumulated during their undergraduate education will allow for them to be the ones directing these changes in the future.





Establishment

The department of Radio, Television and Cinema was established in 2015, as part of the Faculty of Arts and Design. It has begun accepting students as a program during the academic year of 2015-2016.

Double Major–Minor Programs

Double Major:   The students who successfully accomplish their major program will be able to attend courses for Double-Major in other relevant departments. Students, who succesfully complete the Double Major program and receive the right to the undergraduate degree of both departments, are given two separate Undergraduate diplomas.  

Minor Programs :  The students has the opportunity to attend minor programs in related department by attending at least 30 ECTS courses. The students who complete the minor program successfully will be awarded with a certificate for this minor program along with a ’Cinema and Television' undergraduate diploma.

 





Internship

Students have an obligation to complete a 40-day internship outside of the university.

Furthermore, students have an obligation to complete two semesters of in-house internship.







Graduation Requirements

Students are required to fulfill 240 ECTS credits (25% elective courses, 75% compulsory courses) and 30 days summer training. The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) shall be minimum 2.00 over 4.00 to be successful and to complete the Program.





International Cooperations

Radio, Television and Cinema Department is a member of CILECT (Centre International de Liaison  des Ecoles de Cinema et de Television), EEA (European Exchange Acamedy), GEECT (The Groupement Européen des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision) and SEECS (Sout Eastern Europe Cinama Schools). There are universities that our department has agreements with within the framework of the Erasmus+ program, and within the scope of the program, both student and staff mobility takes place.







Occupational Profiles Of Graduates

After graduation, students can work in various areas encompassed in the fields of Radio, Television and Cinema. Some job titles include: director, screenwriter, director of photography, art director, producer, technical crew (chief of studio, editor), theoretician of film and television, film critic.







Access to Further Studies

 The students who graduate from İstanbul Kültür Üniversity Radio, Television and Cinema Department have the right to attend an undergraduate or post-graduate program in any University that has programs related to their areas.





Departmental Facilities

 

Students have the opportunity to do double majors or major/minor. Furthermore, they can take part in the Erasmus/Socrates exchange programs with one of the partner institutions of the department. During their education, students can also take part in the activities provided by the university:
