Course CodeSemester Course Name LE/RC/LA Course Type Language of Instruction ECTS
CE3701 3 Materials Science 2/0/0 CC English 4
Course Goals
This course is designed to introduce, the structures and properties of the principal materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites used in civil engineering. Students will also gain an understanding of the processing and design limitations of materials. Topics fundamental to the further study of materials, such as mechanical properties of metals and metal alloys and of concrete, thermal expansion and thermal conductivity of construction materials, defects and failure in solids, electrical and optical properties will be emphasized as foundations for future civil engineering courses.
