The aim of the course is to introduce the students with the concepts related with architecture and the history of architecture.
The concepts to be discussed in the course are as follows:
Definition of physical environment and social environment, people-environment relations; Concepts of building, form, materials, structure, technique, space; Definition of architecture and its historical development; Concepts of function, dimension, form, human dimensions, user needs; Definition of building materials: stone, wood, earth, mortar, steel, concrete, glass; Traditional structural systems in architecture; Contemporary structural systems in architecture; Aesthetics in architecture; Architecture and the other arts; City and architecture.
