CONSERVATION OF HISTORIC ENVIRONMENTS IN TURKEY AND IN THE WORLD

Course CodeSemester Course Name LE/RC/LA Course Type Language of Instruction ECTS
ARC0310 CONSERVATION OF HISTORIC ENVIRONMENTS IN TURKEY AND IN THE WORLD 3/0/0 DE English 4
Course Goals
Historical environments in Turkey are subject to important changes, and lose many of their original characteristics under the accelerated urbanization effects, especially after the second half of 1970's. These irreplaceable losses of great historic and cultural value in Istanbul and in Anatolia, are replaced with monotonous settlements, composed of unqualified reinforced concrete buildings. The aim of this course is to define the data necessary for the conservation of historic sites and to discuss a number of particular site conservation examples in Turkey and in the world, analyzing and evaluating different approaches in the field.
