Program Objectives

 The need for executive candidates in the field of international economy and finance has an increasing pattern in line with the developments in the world.  International Economics and Finance Graduate Programs at İKÜ Institute of Social Sciences provides students with an education in the theoretical and applied fields of economics and finance at international standards, with a knowledge and experience in regard to latests developments in economics and finance. Theoretical courses will enhance the ability of students in  analysis, problem solving and decision making processes in economics and finance. With a broad spectrum of elective courses, students will be able to focus on their fields of interest during and after their graduate studies and they will gain a deeper knowledge and background on specific research fields.





Establishment

 The program has been established in 2020 and it will start in 2020-21 Fall Semester.





Qualification Awarded

 MSc in International Economics and Finance is awarded to the students who complete the program.





Language of Instruction

 The language of instruction is English.

Admission and Registration Requirements

 Possession of an undergraduate diploma is a must.

 The candidate must possess an ALES score of 55 not older than 5 years in the related discipline.

 The candidate must achieve a score of minimum 70 from the central foreign language exam.

 The admission grade of a candidate to the Master’s Degree Program with Thesis is worked out using the following criteria:

·           50% of the ALES score,

·           10% of the central foreign language exam (A minimum score of 70 is required – it must be in English, or a score meeting the language requirement taken in one of the international exams accredited by ÖSYM – it must be in English,

·           20% of the undergraduate GPA,

·           20% of the score taken in interview/science exam out of 100,

·           The candidates whose total grades are minimum 65 out of 100 are listed from the highest to the lowest score, and main and substitute student candidates are determined. If total grades are equal, undergraduate GPAs are considered for assessment.

  There is no internship in the program.







Graduation Requirements

The master's program with thesis spans four semesters, commencing from the semester when relevant courses are offered, excluding scientific preparation time, and can extend up to six semesters. Failure to complete credit courses, seminar, or thesis study within the allotted time results in dismissal from the Institute. To graduate, students must fulfill a course load of 60 ECTS credits, including at least 9 courses and seminars per academic semester. Successful completion of courses requires a grade of A, A-, B+, B, or B-. A failing grade (F) indicates unsuccessful completion. Following thesis examination, the jury decides acceptance, rejection, or amendments by majority vote. Rejection of the thesis leads to dismissal from the University, while correction requires re-defense within three months. Failure to pass the defense results in dismissal. Students rejected can opt for a non-thesis master's degree if they fulfill the requirements.
