Program Objectives
The New Media and Communication Master’s Program encompasses fundamental theoretical approaches and contemporary research in the field of new media, offering opportunities for specialization. The interdisciplinary structure of the program facilitates the development of innovative academic studies that reflect diverse perspectives within the field.
The program addresses current technology-based issues in communication from various viewpoints, aiming to cultivate individuals who can critically analyze the impacts of new media on societies, stay abreast of current developments, and connect these advancements with other disciplines such as technology, art, media, economy, and politics.
The curriculum is designed to support this aim by providing a combination of compulsory and elective courses, the latter tailored to students’ interests across different disciplines. This structure not only fosters academic development but also equips students with a comprehensive and versatile perspective.

Establishment
Qualification Awarded Students who successfully complete all courses in the 2024-2025 academic year and accumulate a minimum of 120 ECTS credits will be awarded a Master’s degree in the Department of New Media and Communication
Language of Instruction The teaching language of our department is Turkish.
Mode of Education Full time and thesis
Admission and Registration Requirements A minimum score of 55 is required in the ALES Verbal section

Graduation RequirementsThe student should complete all courses without any failing grades and a thesis, on condition that they fulfill120 ECTS credits. The student’s Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) should be a minimum 2.7 over 4.00

Access to Further Studies Candidates who have successfully completed the Istanbul Kültür University, Institute of Social Sciences, New Media and Communication Master's Program can enter the Doctoral Program according to the application conditions of the relevant Programs of the Universities.
Departmental FacilitiesThe program is housed within the Faculty of Art and Design, which spans a total area of 3000 m² and includes the university’s shared lecture halls. The faculty contains 24 classrooms, of which 13 are 30 m², 10 are 45 m², and 1 is 80 m². All classrooms are equipped with projection systems and internet connectivity. With the shared classrooms between the faculty and the university, the total capacity can accommodate up to 650 students. The Istanbul Kültür University Ataköy Campus Library, which also features an art center, galleries, and studios, has a shelf capacity of 25,000 volumes, a comprehensive bibliography, and various publications. It is a two-story facility built on a 560 m² area, capable of serving 170 people simultaneously. Additionally, the Şirinevler Campus Library has a capacity of 75 people, a shelf capacity of 15,000 volumes, and operates in a closed area of 300 m²
