Course Goals
The aim of this course is to examine the political, economic and cultural causes of the emergence of independent cinema. The course, which will focus on the meaning of the "independent" word, will soon review the autonomy of production conditions, aesthetic innovation, political responsibility and marketing techniques. By taking a look at the pioneers of Independent Cinema, important films, directors and subjects in independent cinema will form the content of the course.
