The aim of this course is to provide the students the general knowledge on building surveying techniques, methods and sources for research and traditional building technology for preparing measured drawings, restitution and restoration projects, analysis reports of a historic monument, the skills for interpretation of typology, materials and building techniques of a historic building through a detailed analysis of similar monuments and for dating of the building, the skills for the evaluation of different phases of a historic building through time, diagnosis of decay in historic materials and structural systems and the skills for using the contemporary and advanced treatment methods.
