Course Goals
The aim of examples of historical sites conservation course is to discuss historic environment and site concepts and the development of these concepts; international approaches, charters, results of the conferences relevant with the subject; characteristics of urban integrity that require urban conservation; traditional characteristics of historical environments in Anatolia; regional differences of historical environments across Anatolia; Istanbul and its urban integrity; characteristics and differences that require to be protected; morphological and typological characteristics of historic environments that require to be protected; examination of these characteristics on different examples; discussion of approaches in selected examples of settlements that had an urban conservation plan; examination of urban conservation in some selected examples from Europe, Asia and the United States; discussion on urban / rural examples in The World Heritage List, of the concepts of outstanding universal value, authenticity and integrity which are a prerequisite to take part in the list.
