The aim of the course is to enable the student gain research skills and competency in order to transfer the konowledge and skills by; understanding the processes and practices of the concepts and practices on urban regeneration regarding the current developments in Turkey on legitimate and institutional structuring and western experiences. In this context; loss of employment by deindustrilization, effects of this loss on urban space, sociological and spatial projections of changing urban economies, changing employment structure and new middle class, urban poverty due to the polarization of labour market, spatial segregation and exclusion triggered by gated communities, new structuring of urban centers and new socio-spatial forms and processes like gentrification are the main subjects of the course and will be discussed on the cases in Turkey and the world.
