Program Objectives

Country economies need advanced financial system organization. In parallel with the developments in our country as well as all over the world, these rapid changes and developments in the 'banking and insurance sectors', which are important sub-sectors of the financial system, increase the need for qualified manpower in this field. In this program; integrated into the global system in the fields of banking, insurance and finance; It is aimed to train qualified and equipped professionals who can work in various departments of banks, in the monetary resources units of various companies, insurance agencies, insurance companies or other insurance fields.
Learning Outcomes of the Program:  1. Having the ability to understand professional concepts related to banking and insurance and being able to use these concepts effectively in business life, 2. To understand and correctly express the importance of banking and insurance in terms of the country's economy and financial system, 3. Analyze the components of national and international systems in the banking-insurance sector and the practical results of sector-oriented, 4. To have the awareness of acting in accordance with professional ethical principles, 5. To have the ability to perform accounting transactions related to banking and insurance, 6. To be able to fulfill legal responsibilities regarding the sectors in which we work and to gain the ability to follow and apply the relevant legislation, 7. To be able to produce solutions to problems that may arise in Daily commercial transactions and to gain the ability to make correct decisions, 8. Giving importance to research and development 9. To raise expert individuals who have embraced the importance of lifelong learning.

Graduation Requirements:  In order to successfully complete all courses for a total of 120 ECTS in the Banking and Insurance Program and graduate, students must obtain a weighted GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00. In addition, students are obliged to do an internship for 40 working days in order to see the application areas of their profession in the field and to use the knowledge they have acquired during the education process.  
 





Establishment

Istanbul Kültür University, Banking and Insurance Program of Vocational School  was founded in 2002, and accepted its first students in 2002-2003 academic year and gave its first graduates in 2004.The program which started its activities in the Şirinevler Campus in 2002, continues its education at İncirli Campus since 2009-2010 academic year with the increasing number of students. Since the academic year of 2012-2013, the second education of the Banking and Insurance Program has started to operate. The evening education program has been closed in the 2020-2021 Academic Year.

The program has began its academic activities in Şirinevler Campus, along with the increasing number of students from the 2009-2010 academic year training continues in İncirli Campus.
 





Qualification Awarded

Students who have successfully completed all the courses in the 2 year education plan and who have at least 120 ECTS are awarded with associate degree degree in Banking and Insurance.

Turkish





Mode of Education

Both theoretical and practical  parts of the courses are planned as formal education. However max. %30 of the courses in each semester in terms of ECTS credits can be given online education.





Admission and Registration Requirements

Accepting students to programs of Vocational School , is made through central placement exam which is organized by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).
In central placement, candidates is placed by ÖSYM through their Student Selection Examination scores and program quotas.
The registration of the students placed in the Banking and Insurance Program is made by the Student Affairs Office within the framework of the calendar set by OSYM.

Double Major–Minor Programs

There are double-major –minor programs offered  in the program. Detailed information can be obtained from the program presidency.





Internship

Students are obliged to do an internship for 40 working days in order to see the application areas of their profession in the field and to use the knowledge they have acquired during the education process.  







Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from the program students must have at least 2,00 GPA out of 4,00 and 120 ECTS.
 





International Cooperations

Students have opportunity to be exchange student and make internship abroad through ERASMUS Program.





Occupational Profiles Of Graduates

The graduates of the Banking and Insurance Program can continue their careers in public and private sector banks, financial institutions, accounting companies, accounting services of different sectors, and information processing centers. Those who want to work as an insurer can work in public and private sector institutions and organizations where insurance services are offered and graduates can establish their own business.





Access to Further Studies

Transfer to Bachelor Degree is determined in Offical Newpaper dated 02,19,2002 and numbered 24676.
According to regulation on the continuation of graduates of vocational schools to Bachelor Degree and principles that the council of Higher Education determined, vertical transfer exam and placement of graduates of vocational school students to bachelor degree is executed by ÖSYM.

Students who graduated from Banking and Insurance Program can make vertical transfer to bachelor degree to enhance their training to upper level.
