Course Goals
The basic concepts of linguistics and semiotics by addressing the relationship between semiotics and communication are introduced the types of indicators. Contemporary theories of semiotics are discussed and investigatıons are explained in accordance with students observatıon.

Program Outcomes
PO-1Students will be able to define the concepts of communication, art, culture and others on the field and to associate the acquired theoretical information with the practices in the sector.
PO-2To gain the success on the field they will acquire the must theoretical acquisitions and they will be able to make creative designs by learning the quantitative and qualitative methods of the field.
PO-3By understanding developments of the subjects like communication, media, culture and art in their historical processes students will be able to evaluate the changes and results in the field related to cultural, social and technological improvements.
PO-4They will observe the technological, cultural and social improvements and will be able to practice these changes in the field.

Learning Outcomes
LO-1Will be able to distinguish the concepts of semiotics, to define the indicators which are used in semiotics.
LO-2Will be able to establish the connection between semiotics and other disciplines of social sciences, to evaluate the evolution of semiotics, semiotic practices in different areas.
LO-3Will be able to detect differences in approaches to semiotics-leading theorists and their methods of analysis by examining the implement.
LO-4Will be able to analyze texts as semiotic, linguistic and visual indicators, and re-create the original texts.
LO-5Will be able to iınterpret cultural indicators, social indicators which are Based on theoretical approaches to evaluate fundamental contradictions within the framework of the preliminary information which is obtained to present a critical perspective.
