Course Goals
During the Public Relations process, it is the basic principle to transfer the communication established inside and outside the corporation within the frame of a special mechanism. The use of specific techniques, specific methods and specific tools is required in order to provide this mechanism. Within this context, Public Relation tools and methods used efficiently and commonly in all types of activities both inside and outside the corporation are considered in this course.

Teaching Methods and Techniques To present to the students theoretically and technically how the issues are supposed to be and how they are in actual business life by means of examples, observations, face to face communication.

1. Week Opening course and general information about the tools and methods used within the context of efficient communication. Verbal lecture
2. Week Determination of the verbal tools and methods used between the managers and employees within the corporation. Verbal lecture
3. Week Examination of the verbal communication such as face to face communication, speaking before an audience, telephone conversation, speaking/discussions/interviews with the employees. Verbal lecture
4. Week Discussion of report writing techniques, which is one of the written tools and methods, used between the managers and employees within the corporation and writing reports and petitions on a specific topic. Verbal lecture, Practice
5. Week Discussion and examination of the content of the newspaper, journals and bulletins published within the corporation. Verbal lecture
6. Week Discussion of the significance and advantages of the use of television and radio which have an important place in the public relations activities. Determination of the use of internet, which is started to be used commonly in public relations and determination of internet’s difference from the written/printed tools. Demonstration of the relations with the media, and if required, examination of the media relations, which should be established during a crisis management, and the important steps in establishment of the relations with the media. Program Outcomes
