Program Objectives

The aim of the Non-Thesis Master's Program in Interior Architecture is to enhance research potential, deeply investigate scientific phenomena through interdisciplinary work, and provide our graduate students with an analytical approach. Our educational program brings a comprehensive approach to contemporary issues and problems in the fields of art, technology, and science based on theory-practice-research. Additionally, considering the demands from the industry in the field of Interior Architecture, the proposed non-thesis master's program aims to address the sub-specialization areas of the design field for actively working professionals in the sector.

The goal is to provide a master's education system that can produce sufficient technical and aesthetic solutions, equipped with the necessary professional knowledge, prioritizing quality, aiming to provide world-standard education in design and implementation, able to use current technologies, aiming to train interior architects who have confidence, are open to new developments, integrate with the world.

It is expected for program graduates to have following speciliaties;
- Develops and deepens professional practice, research methods and technique with a base on the Bachelor’s degree in the field of architecture, planning and design at an advanced level.

- Conducts a scientific research in a critical way, improves skill in academic dialog for the critical and categorical results

- Makes contribution to professional knowledge and practise in the related field , takes mutual and individual responsibilities , conceives interdisciplinary interaction.

- Has an advanced level of art and culture aesthetical knowledge in the related field

- Improves skills in using a foreign language at least at a level of European Language Portfolio B2 General Level.

- Has competence in using communication technology and informatics by software knowledge in the relevant field.

- Conducts an academic research in a systematical and critical way, prepares and presents academic research in national and international media.

- Has theoretical and practical knowledge at an advanced level in the reletad field.

- Has artistic and aesthetical knowledge and improves skill in application which leads to productivity.

- Organizes and manages phases of artistic and scientific studies while having a competence in project management.

- Defines goals in the artistic and cultural media.

- Defines national and international literature in the related field.

- Expresses aim, value and meaning of his studies for the target population in an effective way.

- Has multi dimensional point of view for the principles and standards of economical, environmental and sustainable environmet in the related field.

- Takes an active role in the process of raising the awareness of public by preserving and introducing cultural merits

 





Establishment

In the Spring Semester of the 2002-2003 Academic Year, the Interior Architecture Master's Program was opened. The Interior Architecture Master's Program affiliated to the Graduate Education Institute is carried out in line with the basic values ​​stated below.

Qualification Awarded

The students who have min. 90 ECTS by successfully completing all courses and semester project  listed in the annual education plan of the Interior Architecture (Non-Thesis Master's) Program are awarded a Master's degree in Interior Architecture by the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design.

Departmental Facilities

At the Ataköy Campus of Istanbul Kültür University, there are 7 design studios, six classrooms, three workshops established for different purposes (modeling, ceramics, basic arts), a computer laboratory, and a lighting laboratory belonging to the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design.

The instructors in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design are architects, interior designers, and industrial product designers. As of the academic year 2023/2024, the academic staff in our department consists of 2 Professors, 1 Associate Professor, 6 Assistant Professors, and 2 Lecturers.





Program Activities

Our department is represented in national/international platforms. Our faculty members participate in the Architectural Project Competitions opened in our country and represent our university in the architectural community, national and international platforms with the degrees they have received. Scientific researches carried out are presented at national and international congresses and published in journals.
