The aim of this course is to help students develop intermediate communicative skills in Spanish and enable them to express themselves more accurately and fluently in topics related to daily life, health, nutrition, past experiences, and expressing opinions. By the end of the course, students will be able to use structures related to diet and recipes, body and health, advice-giving, imperative forms, and the past tense (Pretérito Imperfecto) to communicate effectively in both spoken and written contexts.
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
1. Listening
Understand conversations related to diet, nutrition, and simple recipes.
Comprehend basic information in discussions about the body, health problems, and advice.
Follow speech expressing wishes and plans.
Understand simple instructions given in the imperative form.
Understand descriptions of past daily activities and childhood memories.
Recognize basic opinion and discussion expressions (e.g., yo creo, pienso que).
2. Reading
Understand short texts about diet and simple recipes.
Extract key information from texts about health, body parts, and advice.
Understand texts describing childhood and daily routines in the Pretérito Imperfecto tense.
Interpret simple texts containing opinions and discussion language.
Understand texts that include imperatives and advice expressions.
Read short narratives about past events.
3. Spoken Interaction
Talk about diet and food recipes.
Express wishes and plans.
Give opinions using verbs such as parecer and pasar.
Talk about body parts and health issues; use the verb doler.
