Course Goals
The aim of this course is to help students develop intermediate-level communication skills in the target language and enable them to express themselves accurately in a wider range of everyday and academic-like situations. By the end of the course, students will be able to understand and use grammatical structures related to the prepositional and accusative cases, possessive pronouns (including свой), relative clauses with который, basic verb aspects of motion, and reported speech structures. They will also be able to communicate about places, time expressions, descriptions of people, actions, and events, and improve their overall reading and writing competence.

Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

1. Listening

·      Understand spoken texts involving the prepositional and accusative cases in contexts such as location, time, and objects of actions.

·        Follow conversations about where someone lives, studies, or works.

·      Understand information about time expressions (week, month, year) and numerical data (cardinal and ordinal numbers).

·        Recognize descriptions of people, their appearance, and character traits.

·        Understand basic spoken texts involving verbs of motion and reported speech.

·        Comprehend simple relative clauses introduced by который.

2. Reading

·        Read and understand short texts using the prepositional and accusative cases.

·        Identify key information in texts describing places, routines, and personal experiences.

·        Understand relative clauses with который in simple and complex sentences.

·        Interpret texts containing verbs of motion, time expressions, and possession structures.

·        Analyze short passages and identify grammatical structures such as reported speech and possessive pronouns.

3. Spoken Interaction

·        Talk about locations using the prepositional case (e.g., where someone lives, studies, or works).

·        Ask and answer questions about time (week, month, year) and sequences of events.

·        Describe people’s appearance and personality using expressions such as “look like.”

·        Use verbs of motion to describe movement and directions.

·        Express possession using свой and other possessive pronouns.

·        Form simple relative clauses using который.

·        Report speech using basic direct and indirect speech structures.

·        Participate in simple conversations about daily life, routines, and past or ongoing events.

4. Writing

·        Write short texts using the prepositional and accusative cases correctly.

·        Describe people, places, and routines in simple paragraphs.

·        Write sentences using time expressions and numerical information.

·        Produce short texts using relative clauses with который.

·        Use possessive structures, including свой, in written communication.

·        Write simple narratives using verbs of motion and basic reported speech.

·        Complete structured writing tasks such as descriptions, short messages, and guided paragraphs.
